Like any successful venture, the new take on SEA started with a need. UC Santa Barbara is endowed with many resources for students to become better business leaders. The problem is, most students don’t know about these resources. If students are aware of any of the host of events, organizations or institutions available to them, they might not know how to make effective use of these resources. Networking, leadership positions, and public speaking can all be daunting to a newcomer.
The SEA provides the infrastructure to engage students, student organizations, faculty, alumni and the greater community in a collaborative forum to deliver what was once only available. Skills based workshops are developed to provide the necessary tools for effective use of these resources. Through an interactive web portal the SEA will become the hub for business activity at UC Santa Barbara. The SEA is offering something distinctly new – an organization that not only benefits its student members, but also creates larger, mutually beneficial relationships with student organizations, academic institutions, and the larger Santa Barbara community.
