Kathryn D. McKee , SPHR, is President and principal consultant of Human Resources Consortia. Prior to forming her own firm, she was Senior Vice President and Regional Human Resources Director for Standard Chartered Bank, Senior Vice President Human Resources for First Interstate Bank Limited, And SVP Compensation and Benefits at First Interstate Bancorp.

She has been president or Chairman of nine organizations, and has presented seminars on Leadership based on her training and experience. She served as an Executive-in-Residence in the CSULB College of Business Management/Human Resources Department, and lectures occasionally for the Technology Management Program.

McKee currently is Vice Chairman, Stewardship for the Board of Trustees of the UCSB Foundation; a Director on the Boards of Old Spanish Days, the Santa Barbara Human Resources Association, the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara and the Alpha Phi House Corporation Board.

Bob is the founding principal of a securities investment and venture capital firm, Robert Duggan & Associates. Three of his many successful venture capital companies have become publicly traded securities; one is listed on the NYSE and the others on NASDAQ. Three additional ventures have been sold to Fortune

On February 22, 2006, a small group of students will meet two hours a week for four weeks. These will be interactive sessions, and by participating you will come away with:

  • What leading a team is all about
  • An understanding of your leadership talents and strengths
  • Influencing others
  • An understanding of the power of group decision-making

Session I - February 15, 2006
Two hours: What Leadership is – We'll explore a variety of opinions on what Leadership is and some keys to effective leadership styles – what style to use and when. We'll talk about your own experiences and what worked and what didn't and what could help you be more effective.

Session II - February 22, 2006
This session will explore and your leadership strengths. You'll learn about yourself through three different tools that explore who you are. We'll contrast and compare the various strengths of each group member and what the results mean for working together in teams

Network for Success"Network for Success" - a HUGE success!

On Wednesday, November 10th, over 30 students and 10 business community members gathered to learn what networking is all about. Here host, Kathryn McKee, President of Human Resources Consortia, gave important information on what networking is all about. Through engaging conversation and activities, students had the chance to do some real-life-networking with business professionals from several different backgrounds.

David Seibold is Professor and immediate past chair of the Department of Communication at the University of California at Santa Barbara where he teaches courses on organizational and group communication, survey research methods and program evaluation, strategic planning and decision-making, and interviewing, He also serves as Co-Director of the interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Management Practice in the Technology Management Program of UCSB's College of Engineering. Seibold graduated summa cum laude from Iona College , earned an M.A. at the University of Michigan , and received a Ph.D. in Communication from Michigan State University . He also has been a faculty member at Purdue University , the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Southern California . He has lectured at more than a dozen universities around the world and has received several teaching honors, including campus teaching excellence and professional society teaching awards. In 2004 he was named a Distinguished Scholar by the National Communication Association, its highest award for a lifetime of scholarly achievement.

      Mr. Duggan is currently chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Computer Motion, Inc., the world's leader in medical robotic operating systems. Computer Motion was started by an engineering Ph.D. graduate of UCSB, and 80 percent of the firm's elite engineering team
have advanced degrees from UCSB. Mr. Duggan has served as a director of the Santa Barbara Symphony, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the UCSB College of Engineering Advisory Committee. He and his wife, Trish, have supported the College of Engineering and the UCSB athletics program.
      The Duggans are members of the Chancellor's Council. Bob Duggan has been a trustee of The UCSB Foundation since 1989.
